French Toast
Here is a recipe that I have been using for years with my classes. I prefer at home to make French toast the night before and pop it in the oven the next morning especially if we have company! It is just quicker.
Here’s what you need.
2 eggs, 1 T sugar, 1/2 t salt, 1/4 t cinnamon, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 t vanilla, & 4-6 slices of bread
Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, salt, sugar and vanilla.
Pour egg mixture in a flat dish or pie plate then dip bread into the egg mixture. Make sure that you do not use fresh bread. Older bread will stay together. I used old fashioned bread so I was only able to make four good pieces of French Toast. You will want the soak up some of the egg on both sides. That will ensure that you get good results after cooking it. The toast should be the texture of a custard on the inside.
Dip the bread in the egg mixture turning to coat both sides.
Place a cube of butter on the skillet top with a slice of dipped bread and top with another cube of butter.

- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4-6 slices bread or 6-8 slices French Bread cut diagonally about 1-in. thick
Makes 4 to 6 servings. 1 slice is considered 1 serving.
